On the 16th of July,2008, SHPS junior team brought glory to the school by coming in 4th in the Inter-School Netball nationals! Screams!
They were the first team in SHPS netball history to be able to make it this far.
They had a tough fight against StMargeret's,who was always in the top 4 placings of the nationals.
Their seniors, came in Champion for the senio division.
First quarter,
the girls were playing with all their might, grbbing every loose ball they could find on court.
Mr Nizam yelled furiously,as he watched the girls making passes that they shouldn't make, and leaving balls to get intercepted by the quick hands of StMargeret's.
They score came to a close end of 2-4,leaving Saint Hilda's trailing at the back by two points.
" It's okay,We still have a chance. Go hildans!" Shakeshake*(GD) shouted and encouraged the team, as she sweated and puffed like she was really exhausted.
Our main GA,Tessa, was only feeling tired from all the supporting and shooting she had done.
The rest of the players were nodding their heads,as they listened to Mr Nizam rambling on about who they should pass to after each pass.
It was only the first quarter, could the hildans still hang on?
Second quarter,
The game was getting more and more exciting,as the StMargeret players looked as if they had just been drenched to the bone by a huge downpour.
Each time after the hildans scored, they would also score quickly, leaving the hildans with no chance to slow down their footsteps.
Time was running, the hildans were giving their best shot, from attcking to defending, the shooters placing in every shot they could, and the defenders jumping for the high lobes that Stmargeret's used on court.
BEEEP! time was up,the second quarter was over, Ohno! The hildans were behind time!
The score was at 8-4 to Stmarg's,after two heart-wrenching quarters.
Though I wasn't playing,I could feel the urge to win from all our P5 netballers, the heat that they were giving off was OHSO strong! Go hildans, there's still a chance!
Mr Nizam stayed composed as he instructed the girls to throw the balls confidently, not making anymore silly passes.
The girls went on court again, hoping that they would overthrow the StMarg's offguard to secure a third placing.
The game was close, with both teams exhausted from the jumping and catching, this game was so exciting! The girls broke loose from their defenders, asking for passes and catching the ball tightly before being down on their feet, not making any silly mistakes.
As for the third quarter, the score ended with 13-7,also to StMarg's.
The girls were all tired out,as they drank cans after cans of H20.
With MrNizam breathing down their neck, they knew that it wasn't a time to play and joke around. It was time to get moving.
As the team gathered for the last cheerings,Mr Nizam thundered like never before, and told the girls to get moving!
The girls leaped, soared, jumped, shot, defended well enough for the Stmarg's to know that there was a chance that we hildans could take over their placing in no time.
It was the last quarter, could we finish it?
As our time-keeper count-down,the umpire called,BEEEP! And that signalled the end of the game.
The score was at 17-11,a fairly tough match. but Stmarg's won.
The girls weren't complacent, but they were happy to get recognised for their efforts.
As the team captain,Tessa brought the school flag upfront to receive the prizes, everyone was beaming happily, not to mention me.
Hopefully, the girls will strive harder to achieve better results next year.
Yes,you've won the battle Juniors! But we will win it more than once!
GO TEAM HILDAN!

Best smile and best Hairstyle competition
Down memory lane
Monday, April 28, 2008
Both Hildan Junior and Senior Team made it to the finals for the first time ever since it was reopened back in 2004. The girls did the school proud by giving TKPS, 4 time east zone champion and 4 time national finalist a hard time during the recent finals. The girls played their hearts out and fight well which both teams eventually lost to the experienced and well-organised opponent. Both teams will now go their exam break and will return to training the moment exam is over. May both teams do well in the nationals and be among the elites.

Team Hildan Junior worst performance
Yesterday saw Team Hildan Senior thrashing their opponent 65 - 0 recording one of the best performance since last year. Today, Team Hildan Junior could not match their senior as they became complacent in a 27-2 win against the determined Junyuan Primary. From the defence to the attacking players, the team showed that they are not ready to be among the elites ,TKPS, St Marg., CHIJ OLN and CHIJ Kellock. Their performance was way below their standard. Many coaches have noted that Team Hildan Junior will be the team to watch this season but not after today's performance. They have to discard their complacency and work hard in order to achieve the goal that they have set for themselves. Their next game will be against IJ Katong on monday at 8.00 a.m. Will Team Hildan Junior bounce back from the complacent performance? Let wait and see....
Morale Boosting performance from the Team Hildan Senior
Our Team Hildan Senior broke our school's highest scoring record with a 65-0 thrashing of Geylang Methodist. Credit must go to the defence team for keeping a clean sheet in this game. Elsie Hui, last year's v-captain was at her best today helping the team to a 16 - 0 lead in the first quarter. The girls went a gear higher in the second quarter extending the lead to 35 - 0 and in the 3rd quarter, Team Hildan Senior mangaed to score another 12 goals making it 47 - 0. In the final quarter, eventhough leading comfortably by 47 goals, the girls maintained their solid performance by scoring yet another 18 goals making it 65-0.
Ms Ng, coach of the Senior team said " The feeding into the goal circle made by the attacking players could have been better. Overall the players did O.K."
Their next match is against PLMGS. The winner of this tie will top the group and move on to the next stage. All the best to Team Hildan Senior.
