The U14 GAME

A piece of good news to announce to all of you - The SHPS P5'2008 Team achieved
the 3rd position in the Netops [Under-fourteen category],on the 17th November 2008!
The team went there , thinking that they would be thrashed by the Secondary 1 and 2 netball teams! However ,Mr Nizam said : " We will turn possibilities into reality , because...?" then he paused. And the girls continued from there , WITH CONFIDENCE : " failure is not an option ! "
Soon ,the first round of the whole entire match began . The HILDANS started their first game with CHIJ TOA PAYOH ! The HILDANS lost them 1-14 ! Most of us were sad and died on the ground ... joking ! The HILDANS had lost that game due to many careless mistakes , Mr Nizam was disappointed , and encouraged us to work harder for the next game !
The next match was with Kranji Secondary! The game with Kranji was sightly better as the HILDANS made lesser mistakes and had won them 8-2 ! All of us were delighted and glad!
Later , the 3rd match was against Jurong West Secondary! The HILDANS thrashed JWS
11-0!
We had more confidence that we could make it to the next round !
The 4th game soon began ! The opponent was Broadrick Sec!Again, the HILDANS thrashed them 9-0! It was indeed a pleasant moment for the girls and the coach!
The last game was with Hillgrove Sec!It was an important game
as the girls had to win this round to proceed on to the next game!
The HLDANS won them 11-2 ! And this meant .. that we were proceeding to the Second round!
Coach Zanizam Bean Bin
Zaini:) - was extremely proud of the girls for their wonderful performances! The efforts put in by the girls set Coach Nizam , also one of the teachers who won
the most NASTY Caring teacher award , smiling from ear to ear! Broadrick Secondary's Coach even approached him for a friendly match with the girls! It was amazing ! It gave Mr Nizam a sense of pride ... for the first rime , JOKING!

____________________________________________________________________________________

2ND ROUND
1. Kranji Sec
11-2
[WE WON!][FIRST GAME OF ROUND TWO , WON!]
2.SHSS
This time , the hildans lost their Seniors in SHSS ! SHSS - the oldies and the obese ! .. JOKING! The Hildan juniors lost the SHSS team 6-9 ! However , Mr Nizam was pleased by the efforts put in by the players!
The last game was with West Groove ! The HILDANS won them 9-5 !
It was then confirmed that we were going on to the next round .. which was the Semi Finals!

_____________________________________________________________________________________
SEMI FINALS!The girls were very glad but Mr Nizam , was sad ! He drama mama-ed
as tears rolled down his cheeks ! He said : " WE embarassed the Sec schools! "
.. JOKING ONLY LAH!
_____________________________________________________________________________________
The HILDANS lost the next game with CHIJ TOA PAYOH - 7-15 ! This meant that , the girls would not be in the 1st and 2nd position , but in the 3rd and 4th round.
The HILDANS played against TKGS and won them - 8-5 !

In the end , we achieved the 3rd postition! (:

funny moments caught in action

Double click on this picture to see it clearer. Here, our super star player, Jenna, tried to catch the ball. However, she missed it and the ball hit her head. Look at how her head is tilted to the back . Must have been painful for her. Any comment?

Thank you Merissa.

Shy Thank you Merissa for updating the netball blog.
Picture was taken after one of east zone match. She wasn't feeling that well during the game but
continued to play. The commitment shown by a player who doesn't want to disappoint her team members. This is the spirit of St. Hilda's netball team. A player who deserves recognition for all she has done and sacrifices made for the team she loves. A player who strives hard to improve not only as a player but a leader. A player who takes every failure as an opportunity to learn and be the best that she can be. A leader who ensures the best for her players in and out of court. She is the most committed player St. Hilda's netball team has ever produced since it was reopened back in 2004. For that, Merissa Boh, Mr Nizam salutes you.

On the 16th of July,2008, SHPS junior team brought glory to the school by coming in 4th in the Inter-School Netball nationals! Screams!
They were the first team in SHPS netball history to be able to make it this far.
They had a tough fight against StMargeret's,who was always in the top 4 placings of the nationals.
Their seniors, came in Champion for the senio division.
First quarter,
the girls were playing with all their might, grbbing every loose ball they could find on court.
Mr Nizam yelled furiously,as he watched the girls making passes that they shouldn't make, and leaving balls to get intercepted by the quick hands of StMargeret's.
They score came to a close end of 2-4,leaving Saint Hilda's trailing at the back by two points.
" It's okay,We still have a chance. Go hildans!" Shakeshake*(GD) shouted and encouraged the team, as she sweated and puffed like she was really exhausted.
Our main GA,Tessa, was only feeling tired from all the supporting and shooting she had done.
The rest of the players were nodding their heads,as they listened to Mr Nizam rambling on about who they should pass to after each pass.
It was only the first quarter, could the hildans still hang on?
Second quarter,
The game was getting more and more exciting,as the StMargeret players looked as if they had just been drenched to the bone by a huge downpour.
Each time after the hildans scored, they would also score quickly, leaving the hildans with no chance to slow down their footsteps.
Time was running, the hildans were giving their best shot, from attcking to defending, the shooters placing in every shot they could, and the defenders jumping for the high lobes that Stmargeret's used on court.
BEEEP! time was up,the second quarter was over, Ohno! The hildans were behind time!
The score was at 8-4 to Stmarg's,after two heart-wrenching quarters.
Though I wasn't playing,I could feel the urge to win from all our P5 netballers, the heat that they were giving off was OHSO strong! Go hildans, there's still a chance!
Mr Nizam stayed composed as he instructed the girls to throw the balls confidently, not making anymore silly passes.
The girls went on court again, hoping that they would overthrow the StMarg's offguard to secure a third placing.
The game was close, with both teams exhausted from the jumping and catching, this game was so exciting! The girls broke loose from their defenders, asking for passes and catching the ball tightly before being down on their feet, not making any silly mistakes.
As for the third quarter, the score ended with 13-7,also to StMarg's.
The girls were all tired out,as they drank cans after cans of H20.
With MrNizam breathing down their neck, they knew that it wasn't a time to play and joke around. It was time to get moving.
As the team gathered for the last cheerings,Mr Nizam thundered like never before, and told the girls to get moving!
The girls leaped, soared, jumped, shot, defended well enough for the Stmarg's to know that there was a chance that we hildans could take over their placing in no time.
It was the last quarter, could we finish it?
As our time-keeper count-down,the umpire called,BEEEP! And that signalled the end of the game.
The score was at 17-11,a fairly tough match. but Stmarg's won.
The girls weren't complacent, but they were happy to get recognised for their efforts.
As the team captain,Tessa brought the school flag upfront to receive the prizes, everyone was beaming happily, not to mention me.
Hopefully, the girls will strive harder to achieve better results next year.
Yes,you've won the battle Juniors! But we will win it more than once!
GO TEAM HILDAN!
This is brought to you by MELISSA!(:

Our Proud Moment

Both Hildan Junior and Senior Team made it to the finals for the first time ever since it was reopened back in 2004. The girls did the school proud by giving TKPS, 4 time east zone champion and 4 time national finalist a hard time during the recent finals. The girls played their hearts out and fight well which both teams eventually lost to the experienced and well-organised opponent. Both teams will now go their exam break and will return to training the moment exam is over. May both teams do well in the nationals and be among the elites.

Team Hildan Junior worst performance

Yesterday saw Team Hildan Senior thrashing their opponent 65 - 0 recording one of the best performance since last year. Today, Team Hildan Junior could not match their senior as they became complacent in a 27-2 win against the determined Junyuan Primary. From the defence to the attacking players, the team showed that they are not ready to be among the elites ,TKPS, St Marg., CHIJ OLN and CHIJ Kellock. Their performance was way below their standard. Many coaches have noted that Team Hildan Junior will be the team to watch this season but not after today's performance. They have to discard their complacency and work hard in order to achieve the goal that they have set for themselves. Their next game will be against IJ Katong on monday at 8.00 a.m. Will Team Hildan Junior bounce back from the complacent performance? Let wait and see....

Morale Boosting performance from the Team Hildan Senior

Our Team Hildan Senior broke our school's highest scoring record with a 65-0 thrashing of Geylang Methodist. Credit must go to the defence team for keeping a clean sheet in this game. Elsie Hui, last year's v-captain was at her best today helping the team to a 16 - 0 lead in the first quarter. The girls went a gear higher in the second quarter extending the lead to 35 - 0 and in the 3rd quarter, Team Hildan Senior mangaed to score another 12 goals making it 47 - 0. In the final quarter, eventhough leading comfortably by 47 goals, the girls maintained their solid performance by scoring yet another 18 goals making it 65-0.
Ms Ng, coach of the Senior team said " The feeding into the goal circle made by the attacking players could have been better. Overall the players did O.K."
Their next match is against PLMGS. The winner of this tie will top the group and move on to the next stage. All the best to Team Hildan Senior.

Result of Team Hildan Junior Vs Kong Hwa school

The junior team played against Kong Hwa school on Monday at kallang Netball Centre. Mr Edwin, the coach for TKPS brought his team over to watch how Team Hildan is performing. During the first quarter, the team played well leading Kong Hwa by 11-0. Leading the team was Tessa, junior team captain, who was performing well pushing the lead to 18 - 0 at the end of the first half. Knowing the win was secured, the main players were rested in the 3rd quarter. The second team put up a good performance extending the lead to 27 - 0. In the last quarter, the players became complacent and allowed their opponent to score a goal. By the end of last quarter, Team Hildan has edge out their opponent with a convincing 36 -1 win. They will be playing again tomorrow against Junyuan Primary. Today, Team Hildan Senior will be playing against IJ Katong at 3 p.m. May the winning streak continues for the both the Junior & Senior Team Hildan.

2 wins in a row for the senior team!!!!!

Hildan team (senior) recorded their 2nd successive win yesterday in the East Zone Interschool Netball Championship winning 37 - 5 against Meridien Primary. Isabel Sia, the captain of the senior team who was shortlisted in the recent Sports school trial led the team with an inspiring performance. Team Hildan took a comfortable 11 -1 lead in the first quarter. They extended their lead to 23 - 2 before half time. In the 3rd quarter, few players were rested and the team only managed to put in 7 goals making the scoreline 30 -3. In the last quarter, a string of bad passes resulted in yet another 7 goals only making the scoreline 37 - 5. They will be playing against a stronger opponent next tuesday. Can the senior girls continue their winning streak?
Let us pray for our Hildan Team.

Update of East Zone Netball competition - Senior Girls

Team Hildan (Senior) played their first game today at CHIJ Katong against Coral Primary.
The team did well today. During the first quarter, Team Hildan took a comfortable 11 -1 lead. In the second quarter, the coach rested few of the 1st team players. They managed to add on to the goal tally and lead 17-2 at half time. In the 3rd quarter, the coach (Ms Ng) made few changes and this time, Team Hildan lead their opponent by 23- 2. And by the final whistle, Team hildan cruised to a 33-4 win over Coral Primary. Their next game will be against Meridian on 25th March. Keep the spirit burning Team Hildan!

EAST ZONE NETBALL TOURNAMENT

The junior girls played their first game yesterday against Coral Primary.
Team Hildan won 30 - 3 against their opponent.
Eventhough Team Hildan won, the girls performed below par. They
did not manage to perform well as compared to the time when they had their friendlies
during the camp. The first quarter, the team went ahead 9 -1. During the second quarter the score was 17 -1. The girls were still not performing as they were trying hard to get their rythm
right. In the 3rd quarter, the girls went ahead scoring 23 -3 and in the 4th quarter, they were up by 30 -3. Hope that the team could move up a gear and get back to the standard that they are
capable of.
Today, the Senior team is playing their first game. May the team perform as well as they did last year.

Yesterday once more continues....

Hey gals... What do you think?

Look at their hairstyles. Especially Abi and Mat. Well, look at Eilynn and Jing Ying. Let's play Spot the similarity contest.

Yesterday once more

Hey, I found a picture of last year's p6 team. They were in P4 then. Very cute rite?

International Inter-school Netball competition

Our P5 team 26 game unbeaten run ended today. They played against the PLMGS senior team. Their game was tied at 7 - 7 at half time but succumbed to a 10 -15 loss in the end. Overall, the girls performed well today not forgetting they were up against a P6 team which was more experienced and taller.

Next Game: P5 SHPS Vs P5 IJ OLN. ( Should be interesting as IJ OLN wins the North Zone yearly. It will be a good game to gauge where our P5 stands among the elite.)

Date : 11 Feb 2008
Venue: Kallang Netball Centre.
Time 3 p.m.

If you are free, join us and watch our girls in action.
